GET TO KNOW MAD
Hello, friend
I’m Madelynn Sare, but you can call me Mad—most people do!
I’m an independent book designer who focuses on inclusive design practices, digital accessibility, and ebook production. I have a passion for making stories as inclusive as they are compelling, and I would love to help you make your dreams come to life. I graduated from Portland State University’s Master’s in Book Publishing program in June 2025 and led the production of four accessible ebooks for Ooligan Press, including alt-text for The Pacific Northwest Disaster Guide that met WCAG 2.2 AAA standards—the highest level of accessibility compliance.
At Ooligan, it was more than simply making ebooks; I built a foundation for accessibility in our digital publishing process, ensuring future titles reach as many readers as possible. Because when we prioritize accessibility, everyone wins.
Before grad school, I’ve spent 4 years in marketing positions spanning across local nannying agencies and creative tech craft companies. When you love working with a mission-driven startup, you wear alot of hats. I am well versed in HTML/CSS coding, content creation, community management, project management, email marketing, analytics, and, most importantly, laughing at every joke (even the bad ones).
If you're looking for someone who blends technical know-how, creative problem-solving, and a deep commitment to inclusive design, let’s connect!
